Betty Taylor Solar + Storage
The Tulalip Tribes are seeking a qualified consultant to design a solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) for the Betty Taylor Learning Academy, with integration into the Gathering Hall microgrid expected to be completed in Q3 2026. The microgrid is intended to support full building operations during a three-day outage in early January, when solar energy production is minimal. The design scope includes a 240kW-DC rooftop solar array mounted on a southeast-facing standing seam metal roof, a BESS with a minimum capacity of 500kW/1320kWh, and planned interconnection with an existing 1500kW diesel generator to enhance resilience during extended outages. Further details and analysis are provided in the 2024 feasibility study included as Exhibit A in the RFP.
